We also post updates on the activities and initiatives that we have supported, following requests from staff at the school.

Further Support For The School in 2023/24:
The Friends of Great Denham have donated enrichment reading books to Year 5.
Due to the growing school size, this year was the first year that Year 5 included three classes, instead of two classes as previously. These enrichment materials encourage children to enjoy their reading and support them in reading for pleasure, beyond the school curriculum.
The Friends of Great Denham have restocked Mrs Burgess's Rewards Shop!
The children from all levels of the school enjoy a trip to Mrs Burgess's Rewards Shop; when they reach periodic targets for their Stars/ Points, each child is invited to the shop to 'buy' a treat. Children earn these points for demonstrating the school's good values -
Well done to all the children who have visited the shop this year!

Further Support For The School in 2023/24:
Our first request for support has come from the Forest School coordinator. We've provided a range of equipment for use when cooking safely over an open fire.
Forest School is now running in school, and Friends of Great Denham are delighted to support this initiative with some long-lasting equipment for all children to use. Equipment we have supported with includes cooking utensils and storage equipment. We look forward to seeing the children benefit from their learning in Forest School - and we hope to share pictures with you in the School Newsletter soon!

Get Ready for a Splash-tastic Year!
Our Goal for 2023/24:
This year, we’ve set ourselves the ambitious goal of raising £9,000.
A significant part of this fundraising effort will support the school’s fantastic new Pop-up Pool initiative. Having this facility on site will allow all children in the school access to swimming, not only for enjoyment of the water and additional physical activity, but also for the learning of essential skills that could literally save a life one day.
We hope you are as excited about this new initiative as we are – and that you will also join us in raising funds to support the school!
Our Fundraising Progress So Far...
The year has just begun – and we’ve already raised £2,830!
Over the summer, Friends of Great Denham launched here - our very own webshop! We’ve been using this new facility over the summer to sell secondhand uniform, with free collection – and so far, we’ve made £330. We are delighted to say that this activity has been led brilliantly by one of our brand new parents, Morgan - who is now also Co-Chair or our committee. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported our secondhand uniform sales – both buying and donating; of course, we can’t do any of this without you!
We’ve also been lucky enough to secure a grant of £2,500 from the WPA Benevolent Foundation, which will directly support the pop-up pool. Huge thanks to Simon Evans, Healthcare Partner at WPA, for supporting our application.
The WPA Benevolent Foundation supports projects throughout the United Kingdom and, as well as other projects promoting good health, is currently focused on supporting the purchase of healthy physical activity equipment in schools. You can find out more about the WPA Benevolent Foundation here >>
